Envoy Koru to be deputy FM

Deputy Undersecretary at the Foreign Ministry Ambassador Naci Koru has been appointed as Turkey’s first Deputy Foreign Minister. Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu appointed Koru as his deputy on March 1, a decision also approved by Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan following a government decision to appoint deputy ministers, Hürriyet daily reported yesterday. Born in 1958, Koru has been working for the Foreign Ministry since 1981. He has worked for Turkey’s diplomatic missions in the U.S., Germany, Austria and Italy. Following his post as Turkey’s Ambassador to Riyadh, he was appointed deputy undersecretary of the Foreign Ministry in 2009.
