A court in the southeastern province of Mardin yesterday found in favor of the arrest of eight suspects on alleged links to the Kurdistan Communities Union (KCK), the alleged urban wing of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK).

Among the arrested were local politicians from the ranks of the Peace and Democracy Party (BDP), Doğan news agency reported.

Meanwhile, four university students’ right to higher education has been ended by a university administration ruling, after the students were taken into custody for alleged links to the KCK. Konya’s Selçuk University administration decided to dismiss four students for being members of an outlawed organization, although the suspects’ case is ongoing, daily Radikal reported yesterday.
