EDİRNE – Anadolu Agency
The northwestern province of Edirne is preparing to make it into the Guinness Book of World Records with the world’s largest pan for liver, Edirne Mayor Recep Gürkan said on May 8.
Edirne is famous for its fried lamb liver.
The 2-ton pan will be exhibited during the 8th International Liver Foods and Bands festival, which will start on May 11.
“The aim is to promote and introduce our fried liver to the world,” Gürkan said.
He is confident that Edirne will be featured in the Guinness Book of World Records with the world’s largest pan of fried lamb liver.
The pan, which is made of rust-free stone, weighs 2 tons, is 80 centimeters high, and is 704 centimeters wide.
Lamb liver cooked in the pan will be served during the festival for evaluation by invited officials from Guinness World Records on May 12.
Several cooks will work to prepare the city’s special food, which will also be offered to all attendees attending the fair and witnessing the world record attempt.
“Local restaurants specializing in fried lamb liver will help us break the world record,” Gürkan said.
After the event, the pan will be displayed on the Karaağaç highway, where the fair and the world record attempt is taking place.
