Eco-tourism renewal plan in Troy National Park

The historical Troy National Park in the northwestern province of Çanakkale will be renewed within a recently approved development revision plan. 

The site was declared a national park in 1996 and has been one of the nine UNESCO world heritage sites in Turkey since 1998.

The Forestry and Water Ministry has boosted investments to turn the national park into an attraction point and offer the natural richness of the site to the public.

New plan to boost eco-tourism

The renewal plan included protection works and dividing the park for different uses. Also, a new arrangement will be carried out for agricultural areas and production will be shifted to organic farming.

Moreover, daily areas of use will be constructed to attract more visitors and new cultural events will be organized to introduce the ancient site within the national park.

In addition, eco-tourism trainings will be offered to inhabitants, students and administrators. Market research will be boosted regarding the values and traditional products of the area, while certain topics on eco-tourism will be specified.

The inhabitants will also be offered employment, as vacancies will be opened particularly in the service sector, such as in cafes and restaurants, along with accommodation facilities, construction and cleaning.
