Collections from the finalists of the first Home and Beach Wear Design Competition were exhibited yesterday at a fashion show in the southwestern province of Denizli.

The main theme of the competition, which was organized by the Denizli Exporters Association (DENİB) and sponsored by the Economy Ministry, was “ecology.”

“We have come to a crossroads in textiles. We think that the day has arrived for products based on design, research and development, innovation and ones which go beyond basic-design products,” said DENİB President Süleyman Kocasert, adding that the competition in home and beach wear, a very important branch of home textiles, would be an annual event.

Esra Ertan won the first prize, followed by Fatma Kırımlı and Tuğçe Yıldırım. The winners were awarded 7,000 Turkish Liras, 5,000 liras and 3,000 liras, respectively. Ayça Kaplan received a special innovation award at the event.
