Serious security weaknesses around the Diyarbakır Courthouse, one of the most protected buildings of Turkey, have been revealed during the investigation into the theft of around half a ton of drugs from the building last year.

The prosecutor has discovered the robbery of 328 kilograms of heroin, 55 kilograms of marijuana, 97 kilograms of cannabis and 11,715 captagon pills was carried out by the brother of a contractor who worked at the building illegally for four months.

The suspected offender, identified as M.O., was able to walk around every section of the courthouse freely and to enter even the most confidential rooms, such as the security camera room and confiscated goods room.

After detecting the blind spot of security cameras, M.O. stole the seized drugs.
