Firefighters extinguished the blaze triggered by the blast in a parquetry store on the ground floor of the building, the agency said.   The agency had earlier reported the blast had occurred in a patisserie.

The injured, most suffering from smoke inhalation, have all been hospitalized. One person was seriously injured in the incident, according to officials.

The blast is believed to have stemmed from chemical-based products stored on the premises that are used in laying flooring, Eskisehir Governor Mehmet Kiliclar said in a statement.

The head of the provincial fire department, however, later said the explosion was caused by a gas leak.
