Documents unlawfully seized: Oda TV lawyer
ISTANBUL - Doğan News Agency
One of the defense lawyers in the ongoing Oda TV probe denied charges pertaining to digital documents earlier seized as evidence by law enforcement officers in a plea during the sixth hearing of the case Jan. 2.“You create on the computer the document in question, but you never access or print it, and you take this alleged organizational document merely for yourself and share it with no one else. [Using the documents as evidence] is illogical,” Hüseyin Ersöz, lawyer of suspected journalist Soner Yalçın, said in court.
Two expert reports from Istanbul’s Yıldız Technical University and the United States concluded that all the documents in question had been erased, never printed and never accessed by users, Ersöz said.
The case regarding Oda TV, an online news portal known for its fierce criticism of government policies, began after police conducted a search of the website’s offices in February last year as part of the ongoing Ergenekon investigation.
