Diyarbakır to host a book fair

Organized by TÜYAP Tüm Fuarcılık Yapım A.Ş, the fourth Diyarbakır Book Fair is set to open on May 14. The fair representative Gözde Ocak Baştımar said that they expected to welcome over 100,000 visitors during the fair, until May 19.

She said that the fair hosted 130 publishing houses last year and this year it would host 150 publishing houses.

“There will be 50 cultural events such as conferences, talks, panel discussions and poetry readings as part of the fair. Also, 300 writers will come together with their readers for book signings. This year we expect that more than 100,000 people will visit it. People from neighboring cities and districts come to the fair every year. The fair will also host the Surdibi Photography Exhibition,” Baştımar said.

Within the scope of the fair, a play featuring the poems by Ahmed Arif will be staged for the first time. The play will be on stage on May 15 at the Diyarbakır City Theater.
