Discovery Communications to build partnership with Turkish Doğuş Group, buy TV frequency
ISTANBUL
In the first stage of the deal, the Doğuş Media Group will become the sole advertising sales representative of Discovery on Sept. 1. Doğuş will be responsible for selling all of Discovery’s commercial portfolio and for securing sponsorship deals for its assets, including the local versions of the Discovery Channel, Animal Planet and Discovery Science.
Discovery Communications has also decided to acquire the Doğuş Group’s news and entertainment channel CNBC-e, thus taking the first step to becoming a national broadcasting in Turkey. The acquisition is expected to be finalized this year, according to the statement.
Discovery Communications has around 3 billion subscribers in 220 countries around the world, according to the statement.
