The Turkish media is making an important contribution to the government’s efforts to solve the Kurdish issue, Turkish Deputy Prime Minister and government spokesman Bülent Arınç has said, singling out the Doğan Media Group for praise.“The media’s support is so pleasing for us. I know and I see this support. Especially all the media organs of Aydın Doğan’s group are lending the biggest support for us in this newly started process. Eighty percent of the other media groups are also lending their support as I see. They are conducting positive broadcasts and contributing to the process, I hope it continues increasing,” Arınç said yesterday at Fresh Mesh, an interactive event platform that was designed and organized by Doğan TV Holding on Jan. 17 at the Kanal D studios in Istanbul.
The recently launched “peace process” is aimed at ending the three-decade-old conflict between security forces and the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK). For the first time in recent Turkish history, Turkish officials have openly held talks with the imprisoned leader of the PKK.
