Dee Dee Bridgewater to take Turkish stage

Grammmy Award winning jazz singer Dee Dee Bridgewater will take the stage in Ankara on Nov 20 and Istanbul on Nov 21. Tickets are on sale.
Good Music in Town concerts, organized by Map Communications for the 70th year of Yapı Kredi, with showcase Grammy Award winning jazz singer-songwriter Dee Dee Bridgewater at Istanbul’s Zorlu Center PSM on Nov. 21. Before her Istanbul concert, she will be on stage in Ankara’s Meb Şura Hall on Nov. 20.In 1970, Bridgewater joined the Thad Jones-Mel Lewis Jazz Orchestra as the lead vocalist. This marked the beginning of her jazz career, performing with many of the great jazz musicians of the time, such as Sonny Rollins, Dizzy Gillespie, Dexter Gordon, Max Roach, Rahsaan Roland Kirk and others.
In 1974, her first own album, entitled “Afro Blue,” was released, and she also performed on Broadway in the musical “The Wiz.”
Over the course of a multifaceted career that has spanned four decades, Bridgewater has risen to the top tier of today’s jazz vocalists, putting her own unique spin on standards, as well as taking intrepid leaps of faith in re-envisioning jazz classics.
A Goodwill Ambassador in the United Nations, Bridgewater continues to appeal for international solidarity to finance global grassroots projects in the fight against world hunger.
