Davutoğlu and Kerry discuss Syria and Iran nuclear deal in phone meeting

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry called Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu late on Nov. 29 to discuss the latest developments regarding the organization of a peace conference on Syria and Iran’s nuclear deal, Anadolu Agency reported today.
 
During the phone call, Davutoğlu briefed Kerry about his Iran visit and meetings with officials while Kerry informed about the steps foreseen in the coming six months, diplomatic sources told Anadolu Agency.

Davutoğlu told his U.S. counterpart that Ankara was ready to make contributions to the process if needed.

Both counterparts also spoke about the preparations for the long-awaited Geneva-2 peace conference which has failed to gather support among the Syrian opposition.

Davutoğlu had extensive meetings in Teheran, where he also discussed the Syrian issue with Iranian officials. Both Davutoğlu and Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad called on Nov. 27 for a ceasefire in Syria before peace talks in Geneva scheduled for Jan. 22
