Culture and Arts Grand Awards to four artists

The 2013 Culture and Arts Grand Awards were presented on Sept. 16 at a ceremony in Ankara.

The recipients of this year’s awards, which are given to those who successfully represent Turkey in the field of culture and arts in national and international platforms, were veteran classical music performer Müzeyyen Senar, painter and flute player Ahmet Yakupoğlu, poet Nuri Pakdil and actor Cüneyt Arkın.

The program started with a concert and continued with a short film screening about the lives of the award recipients.

Culture and Tourism Minister Ömer Çelik presented the awards. Due to her health problems, Senar could not attend the ceremony, so her daughter Feraye Işıl was present to receive the award for her.

Yakupoğlu’s award was presented to his daughter Havva Sökmener.
