Court set to decide on chambers
ANKARA - Hürriyet Daily News
Turkey’s Supreme Court is expected to make a crucial decision on changes to the presidents of a number of bourses and chambers, as it is currently discussing adjustments to the current code about termsof service.
The chamber and bourse leaders who have been on duty for the last two terms are obliged to wait another two terms before being elected again under the current code, which affects many, including Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu, the head of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB).
TOBB is the country’s largest business organization.
Customs and Trade Minister Hayati Yazıcı said yesterday that the government was working on a code that cut the obligatory time period between duties to one term.
