A Diyarbakır court has ordered the removal of posters announcing a March 8 International Women’s Day panel because it included pictures of Marxist theoretician Rosa Luxemburg and members of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK).

“Who is this Rosa?” a member of the southeastern province’s police force reportedly asked the head of the panel’s organizing committee, Şaneşin Aydın, according to the online bianet news portal.

The court banned the posters on the grounds that that they constituted propaganda for the PKK since the announcement featured PKK members.

The posters for the panel, “Your way is our way; your words are our words,” included pictures of the German Marxist theoretician, who was murdered in 1919, as well as Sakine Cansız, Fidan Doğan, and Leyla Söylemez, three members of the PKK that were murdered in Paris on Jan. 9. Also included was Clara Zetkin, a comrade of Luxemburg, as well as executed Iraqi Kurdish activist Leyla Qasım.

“What do you mean by saying ‘from Rosa to Sakine?’” the police officer reportedly asked Aydın.
