Court approves indictment in intel trucks case
Istanbul’s 14th high criminal court accepted the indictment over the National Intelligence Organization (MİT) trucks stopped in the southern Adana and Hatay provinces on Jan. 19, 2014.
Among the suspects are 11 fugitives and also 11 suspected so-called “imams” of the Fethullah Terrorist Organization (FETO), the group behind last year’s foiled coup in Turkey, which left 250 dead and some 2,200 wounded.
The 55 defendants include former armed forces officers ranging from generals, colonels, majors, captains, lieutenants, and sergeants, as well as one former intelligence officer, five former teachers, two former academics, and former employees of the Labor and Social Security Ministry, Health Ministry, Supreme Board of Radio and Television (RTÜK), and the southern Mersin province’s Agricultural and Rural Development Institution.
