Consumer Reports has revealed concerns about privacy practices of Facebook, in which 2,002 online households including 1,340 Facebook users were surveyed, according to mashable.com.
The survey aimed to present an accurate profile of 188 million North American users, and focused on subjects such as sharing, usage of privacy controls, online harrasment, collection of data and more.
The report shows that 4.8 million Facebook users post their daily plans on Facebook and these sharings can present an opportunity for thieves to get into action. People can also use others' company info, diseases or statuses.
Techonology editor of Consumer Reports Jeff Fox said the percentage of improper use of information is related to the sharing settings a user choses, as "public" or "friends only."
Using the privacy settings may reduce risk, but 13 million users have still not adjusted their settings or have no idea about the privacy tool, despite Facebook having renewed the setting tool to make easier to access, according to the report.
