Consumer confidence falls

Turkey’s consumer confidence was down in August when compared to July.The Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) announced yesterday that the index, which was 92.8 in July 2012, fell 1.8 percent to 91.1 in August 2012.
The monthly Consumer Tendency Survey focuses on consumers’ assessments of the general current economic situation and their personal financial standing, as well as their predicted expenditure tendencies for the near future. The consumer confidence index can take a value between 0-200. A value above 100 indicates an optimistic outlook, while a value below 100 signals a pessimistic outlook.
