Confidence in Turkish business ups
ISTANBUL
Confidence in Turkish businesses has increased, even if just a pinch, thanks to the improvements in businesses’ situation over the recent period, according to Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) data released on March 22.The largest increase was in the construction sector, with the construction confidence index surging by 10.9 percent, which stemmed from improvements in overall employment expectations for the next three months.
The 7.1 percent increase in the services confidence index stems from the improvements in the business situation over the past three months, as well as the demand-turnover in the recent period and the demand-turnover expectation evaluations for the next three months.
In addition, business activity in the retail trade sector rose, while the expectation for it to rise higher in the forthcoming period rose even further.
