Cleopatra Festival to be held in Marmaris

A 2,500 year-old amphitheater on Cleopatra (Sedir) Island in the western province of Muğla’s Mamaris district, will host a music festival for the first time. The festival artists will all wear Cleopatra dresses during the event.The International Cleopatra Music Festival will be held between Oct. 10 and 13, with the slogan of “Cleopatra is in Marmaris after 2,000 years.”
The head of the Philharmonic Association, the organizer of the festival, Ahmet Altınöz said they decided to make a festival to promote the district. “The festival will host Turkish and foreign artists as well,” he added.
Altınöz said the artists would come to the district by boat, wearing Cleopatra dresses, adding, “We will walk to the Marmaris Castle and organize a small concert there, too. All the festival events will be open to the public for free.”
