CHP to be open to criticisms when in rule: Kılıçdaroğlu

Republican People’s Party (CHP) will be open to criticisms when the party comes to power, daily Hürriyet has reported CHP leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu as saying.

“I will extend the public right to criticize the CHP when the CHP assumes power,” Kılıçdaroğlu said in Istanbul on Oct. 15 at a meeting titled “Meetings with Political Party Leaders,” which was organized by the Turkish Industry and Business Association (TÜSİAD), Turkey’s top business organization.

“We have to learn from criticism,” he added, stressing that Turkey is experiencing a different form of democracy rather than those practiced in developed Western nations. 

Kılıçdaroğlu said human safety, along with that of property, would be assured in counties that abide by rule of law.

“[I want to make clear that] I promise that we will bring democracy to this country in the truest sense of the word,” he added, saying that people of Turkey do not deserve the form of democracy Turkey is currently experiencing.

Kılıçdaroğlu stressed the importance of political ethics and said the CHP would enact a law to secure sustainable political ethics in Turkey.

“We have to train qualified judiciary persons. They should know a foreign language or two. We have to manage to do this with no damage to the balance between legislation, execution and justice,” he added.
