ANKARA - Hürriyet Daily News
The main opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP) has submitted a censure motion against the Food, Agriculture and Livestock Minister Mehdi Eker over his policy implementations, which the CHP claims have dragged Turkey’s livestock sector into a dead end.Speaking at a press conference in Parliament, CHP lawmaker Ensar Öğüt said yesterday that imported animals would be sacrificed in the forthcoming Eid al-Adha (Kurban Bayramı) due to the government’s “incorrect policies.”
‘Neglect of duty’
“Due to the incorrect policies pursued by the Justice and Development Party (AKP) government, the livestock sector has come to a dead end. Minister Mehdi Eker committed a neglect of duty by implementing the wrong policies and putting our farmers and producers in trouble. For this reason, we demand his censure,” read the CHP’s motion, submitted to Parliament Speaker Cemil Çiçek’s office yesterday.
