CHP leader to visit Europe for presidential elections

In the run-up to the Turkish presidential elections in August, main opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP) leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu is planning to visit at least two European countries.Citing some 2.7 million Turkish voters abroad, nearly 2,400 ballot boxes will be set up in 56 countries, Anadolu Agency quoted CHP deputy chair Faruk Loğoğlu as saying on May 7.
Foreign votes would directly influence the upcoming presidential elections, Loğoğlu was quoted as saying. He added that party officials would pay visits to several European countries where Turks were residing in order to inform them about the electoral process and to receive support for the party’s candidate.
Loğoğlu was quoted as saying the CHP leader would pay a visit to Britain and hold a meeting on May 16. He added that the party was working on organizing a visit to Germany.
He added that a preparatory group had been working on organizing the visits and that some deputy chairs and CHP lawmakers would also be traveling to France, Austria and Germany, as well as some other European countries.
