CHP leader holds talks with US Ambassador Bass

The two reportedly discussed recent political developments in Turkey, including the recently issued state of emergency decree laws, the criteria applied to dismissed state personnel, the independence of the judiciary, and preparations for mini-constitutional amendments. 

During the meeting Bass conveyed his good wishes to Kılıçdaroğlu, who recently survived a PKK attack in the northeastern province of Artvin. 

Kılıçdaroğlu and Bass also talked about the extradition of Fethullahist Terror Organization (FETÖ) leader, U.S.-based preacher Fethullah Gülen, and Turkey’s recently-launched operation to clear its Syrian border of Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) militants.   

Concerning the decree laws passed by the government in the aftermath of the July 15 coup attempt, both Kılıçdaroğlu and Bass reportedly underscored that in this period superiority of the law and independence and impartiality of the judiciary must be preserved.
