CHP criticizes Anatolia news agency
ANKARA - Hürriyet Daily News
The Vice President of the Republican People’s Party (CHP) Faik Öztrak criticized Anatolia news agency for its allegedly slanted misrepresentation of Deutsche Bank’s latest Emerging Markets report.According to Öztrak, the news item made it appear that Deutsche Bank had given a glowing review of Turkey’s Central Bank policies using a title like “The Central Bank’s unparalleled policies,” in reference to the response of Turkey’s central bank to economic fragility.
In reality, however, page 48 of the Deutsche Bank report signals the risks of Turkey’s high current account gap and page 54 mentions the risks related to some of the central bank’s policies according to Öztrak. Öztrak released a statement saying “The government is continuing to twist the words of international economic bodies. ” He referred to the Anatolia when making his statement given that it is semi official.
