CHP calls on PM to reveal ‘Öcalan letter’

Abdullah Öcalan, the leader of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), wrote a letter to Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, main opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP) Spokesperson Haluk Koç claimed yesterday, calling on the premier to reveal the contents of the alleged letter. 

“What do they bargain about? Did Apo [Öcalan] write a letter to the prime minister of Turkey?” Koç asked at a press conference. “Prime minister, if you are brave and courageous enough then declare that there is such a letter and reveal its contents.” Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) lawmaker Ayla Akat and Independent deputy Ahmet Türk were allowed to visit Öcalan on İmralı island on Jan. 3. After their visit various media outlets claimed Öcalan had sent a letter to Erdoğan.
