Champions League: Bayern thrash Benfica 5-1 in Munich

German football heavyweights Bayern Munich advanced to the last 16 in the UEFA Champions League after they hammered Portuguese opponents Benfica 5-1 in a Group E match late Nov. 27.
Home team Bayern earned an extravagant win as the German giants' forwards were on duty against Benfica.
Dutch winger Arjen Robben and Polish superstar Robert Lewandowski scored two goals each for Bayern Munich while the team's French veteran winger Franck Ribery put the ball into Benfica's net once.
Benfica's only goal was scored by Portuguese central midfielder Gedson Fernandes in the 46th minute.
With their victory in Munich, Bayern qualify for the last 16.
Ajax, Manchester City, Real Madrid, Roma, Juventus and Manchester United also booked their places in the last 16 after matches on Nov. 27.
