Chamber music festival in historic church

ISTANBUL
The first open air chamber music festival in Turkey, “Eklisia Chamber Music Festival,” started Aug. 3 in the Byzantine-era Eklisia Church in Bodrum’s town of Gümüşlük.

Following concerts by Camerata Smyrna, Kadir Sonuk and the Athens Quintet “Dimitrios Dounis,” along with Italian soloists Raffaele La Ragione and Camilla Finardi, the festival, organized by the Gümüşlük Culture and Arts Association, will present five more chamber music concerts until Aug. 13.

The concert by Borusan Quartet on Aug. 5 will be followed by Çellistanbul, with its four violoncello virtuosos, on Aug. 7.

Tango ensemble Fuego Trio will take the stage on Aug. 9. The festival will continue with Olten Quartet on Aug. 11.

During the closing concert of the event, veteran theater actor Genco Erkal will perform Stravinsky’s work, “The Soldier’s Tale.” He will be accompanied by Camerata İzmir under the baton of Naci Özgüç.
