Chad renames US Embassy’s road ‘Istanbul Street’ after Erdoğan’s visit

N’DJAMENA, Chad

Chad has renamed the street where the U.S. Embassy is situated in the capital N’djamena Istanbul Street after Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s visit to the country.

The road, previously called State Street, was renamed in a ceremony attended by N’djamena Mayor Mariam Jouma’a and Turkish Ambassador Sabri Ergen on Dec. 28.

“I was so pleased that a Turkish name was given to a street for the first time in N’djamena,” Ergen said.

Erdoğan’s one-day visit earlier this week was part of a three-nation Africa tour that included Sudan and Tunisia.
