Celebrations for Bond set to start in October

Sony Pictures will honor James Bond’s 50th anniversary Oct. 5. James Bond Day will occur exactly 50 years after “Dr. No” premiered in London.The day will include a number of events to honor 007 such as a global online and live auction charity event of 50 lots to benefit 12 charitable institutions organized by Christie’s in London, a global survey to discover the favorite Bond film by country, a film retrospective at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, a Music of Bond night in Los Angeles hosted by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, and an exhibition, “Designing 007: 50 Years of Bond Style,” at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).
The recently announced documentary “Everything or Nothing: The Untold Story of 007” will also be
released. Meanwhile, the James Bond Blu-Ray boxed set will have already been released on Sept. 24, while “Skyfall” will hit Turkish theaters on Nov. 2.
In a written statement, “Skyfall” producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli said, “We are absolutely thrilled to be celebrating James Bond’s golden anniversary on film with this special day of events for Bond fans around the world.”
