Cabinet calls for urgent move for hydropower

The Turkish Cabinet has move to immediately nationalize a group of plots on which hydropower plants are slated to be built, according to the motion, which was published yesterday in the Official Gazette.The Republic of Turkey Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EPDK) will be responsible for the nationalization of the plots in the southeastern province of Siirt’s Pervari district and the western province of Manisa’s Alaşehir district in the name of the Treasury, the gazette said.
Other plots in Yağlıdere, Çaykara and Ulubey, three Black Sea Region towns, along with İspir and Tortum towns in the eastern province of Erzurum, will also be nationalized.
