A building in Istanbul’s central Beyoğlu district collapsed in the early hours of Sept. 14 only five hours after it was evacuated by local officials for security reasons.

Experts had been dispatched to inspect the building, which was used as business offices, after small cracks occurred during the day.

Following the inspections, the experts concluded that the building was about to collapse and ordered an immediate evacuation.

The building crumbled only five hours after the evacuation, causing no injuries. Only one car parked in front of the building was damaged due to debris.
