Boss drives roadster, not an armored car

Famous Turkish contractor, Ali Ağaoğlu, who is almost a celebrity in his own right due to the number of stories about him in the media, has put an end to a recent debate on his courage to visit the southeastern province of Diyarbakır on a roadster rather than with an armored vehicle. 

Diyarbakır Chamber of Industry Commerce chairman Remzi Can said last week that they invited the Istanbul-based contractor to the city, but that he had demanded a private plane and an armored vehicle, probably because he feared terror attacks in the region. Can’s remarks came at a press meeting where demanded a new industrial zone to be build in the province.

Ağaoğlu said in Diyarbakır that Can also admitted in a phone call that this was not true. “[Can] told me that he used my name because my media ratings are high,” he said. 

Accompanied by ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) deputies Cuma İçten and Oya Eronat visited the local authorities there, including Gov. Mustafa Toprak to discuss opportunities for new investments. 
Noting that his company is constructing three hydropower stations in Bingöl and working on another in Şırnak, Ağaoğlu said the east lacks investments and jobs. 

“We will see what lies here. Hopefully, I’ll invest in here.”
