Borsa Istanbul trading halted for one hour by technical glitch

ISTANBUL

The trading resumed as of 10:55 a.m. as the technical problem has been solved.

Trading on Turkey’s main stock exchange Borsa Istanbul halted for around one hour shortly after it opened for the day, due to an undisclosed technical problem.

“The transactions at Borsa Istanbul have been stopped due to a technical breakdown,” a statement released by Borsa Istanbul said after transactions stopped.

The trading resumed as of 10:55 a.m. as the technical problem has been cured.

The stock exchange announced the suspension, which began about 20 minutes after it opened, was caused by a technical problem in share market. Additionally, trading at the derivative exchange market was stopped due to the halt at the share market.

“Any order entry or transaction cannot be preceded for now. Technical work to solve the problem is ongoing,” the statement released on the Public Disclosure Platform (KAP) read.

Turkey’s main index Borsa Istanbul (BIST) 100 had opened the day with 337 points, around a 0.41 percent gain from the previous day’s closing at 82,608 points.
