Bora Başkan’s exhibit opens at Apel
Başkan’s images of power, derived from Deleuze’s readings of Spinoza, are monolithic structures that join together different pieces and organisms, which connect the individuals to power on a social level. Through compositions, emotions such as unhappiness, agony and enslavement are jointed to the organisms’ essence. The dosed increment of the general state of unhappiness and sadness is offset by the motivation derived from the illusion of sharing power. The organisms continue to form structures of power, unaware that their forces of existence are continuously thus brought down.
