Security officials increased security measures around Diyarbakır's Çarıklı village following the discovery of explosives placed at a bridge nearby, Doğan news agency reported this morning.

The bomb was placed below the route that leads to Diyarbakır Airport, which is used by both civilian and military aircraft.

All scheduled flights were immediately postponed, and security forces have been working to deactivate the bomb for the past two hours. Roads to and from the area are also currently closed.

The bomb is reportedly capable of causing heavy damage if it explodes.
