Boğaziçi named ‘Best Global Turkish University’: Report

Istanbul’s prestigious Boğaziçi University has been named the “Best Global University” of Turkey, according to a newly published list by the U.S. News & World Report.
Out of a total of 1,249 colleges from 75 countries, Turkey has 27 universities on the list, with Boğaziçi University being ranked 234.
Boğaziçi University also ranked 265 in the field of engineering, 66 in the field of physics, whereas 29 in the Best Global Universities among Asian countries.
The list of the top universities has Harvard University at number one with a global score of 100, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) at number two with a global score of 97.6 and Stanford University at number three with a global score of 93.8.
In the top 500 on the list, Turkey has three universities. Following Boğazçi University with a global score of 58.4, Middle East Technical University (ODTÜ) ranked 367 with a global score of 51.9 and Istanbul Technical University (İTÜ) ranked 376 with a global score of 51.2.
Ranging from 500-1000, Bilkent University, Hacettepe University, Ankara University, Koç University and Ege University were on the list as well, respectively.
Most universities ranked on the list were from the U.S. with 242 universities, China with 145 universities, the U.K. with 80 universities and Japan with 77 universities.
The Best Global Universities rankings are determined using 13 indicators focused on academic research performance, such as global and regional reputation, publications and citations.
