The 7th Beyoğlu Bibliopole Festival, organized in collaboration with the Beyoğlu Municipality and the Istanbul Municipality, opened in Tepebaşı on Sept. 29 with a press conference.

Beyoğlu Mayor Ahmet Misbah Demircan said that the bibliopole festivals were places where books were accessible in the easiest and the most attractive way, adding, ”We cannot find our important bibliopoles such as Nedret İşli, Lütfü Seymen, Asuman Bektaş and Lütfü Bayer together in any other environment. The Bibliopole Festival is like a university class; there are lots of things to learn here. I see the Beyoğlu Bibliopole Festival as a kind of the treasure department of an empire palace. We have every kind of treasure here and it is very cheap.”

Demircan also said that they did not ask for any fees from the bibliopoles joining the festival.

The 7th Beyoğlu Bibliople Festival will continue until Oct. 19. During the event, besides books, historical magazines, old written documents and photos, film and theater posters, rare postcards and special collections will be on sale and writers will meet book lovers.
