Beşiktaş sinks Antalya after eight-goal thriller

Beşiktaş was the survivor of an eight-goal thriller and ended Antalyaspor’s six-match unbeaten streak in the Spor Toto Super League on Nov. 18.

A hat-trick from Hugo Almeida led the Black Eagles to a 5-3 win, while Olcay Şahan and Manuel Fernandes were also on the scoresheet for Beşiktaş. Isaac Promise, Lamine Diarra and Ömer Şişmanoğlu scored goals for Antalyaspor, who blew a chance to advance to the top of the league with even a draw.

Galatasaray still leads the league with 22 points, while Antalyaspor follows, also on 22 points. Kasımpaşa and Fenerbahçe have 20 points, while Beşiktaş jumped to fifth spot with 19 points after 12 games.

Beşiktaş is the league’s joint top scorer with Galatasaray with 27 goals, but the team has also shipped 19 goals.

“We are playing with an amazing appetite, but we also have to work on the goals we concede,” coach Samet Aybaba said.
