Baba Zula to take the stage at Ghetto
ISTANBUL - Hürriyet Daily News
Baba Zula, whose musical career has moved traditional Turkish music onto a whole new level, will be playing at Ghetto this weekend. While their interpretation of the familiar folk music is unique, the group also combines acoustic and electronic sounds in a harmonic manner. Founded in Istanbul in 1996, Baba Zula features founding members Murat Ertel and Levent Akman, as well as Coşar Kamcı who replaced original member Emre Önel in 2005. Baba Zula goes to great lengths to provide their fans with a unique live show experience. Their ritual-like performances are a mixture of art disciplines, often featuring belly dancers, elaborate costumes, poetry, theater and live drawing, delivering viewers a tantalizing audio-visual feast.
