Azeris, Turks build ship for Azeri government

A ship jointly built by Azeri and Turkish firms, Mirvari, with a capacity of 650 passengers was delivered to the Azerbaijan government late on Aug. 5, from the shipyard in Turkey’s northwestern province of Yalova.
 
The ship, which was built by Azeri Asia Maritime and Turkish Özata Shipyard, was delivered to the Azeri government in a ceremony. Özdemir Ataseven, the Chairman of Özata Shipyard, said they completed the construction of the ship in one year.

However, Elchin Khalilov, the chairman of Asia Maritime, said the two companies had a partnership for two years. Mirvari, which means pearl, is planned to be brought to the Caspian Sea in one month, he noted.

Partnership in other projects

Khalilov also said the two companies jointly won a tender, held by the İzmir Metropolitan Municipality for the building of the cosmopite ships. They had started to build 15 carbon fiber cosmopite passenger ships.
He also added that they submitted an offer to the tender for building passenger ships to the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality.
