Azerbaijan’s first ever satellite, Azerspace-1, was launched into space at 1:36 a.m., daily Hürriyet has reported.

The launch took place at the Kourou Space Station, located in the French Guiana.

The satellite cost $250 million and was made by the American company Orbital Sciences.

Azerbaijan will use only 20 percent of the satellite’s work potential, leaving the rest open for rent by other countries.
