Azerbaijan prepares special stamp for Eurasia Summit’s 18th anniversary
ISTANBUL
The stamps, which have pictures of the flags and landmarks of both Azerbaijan and Turkey (the Flame Towers in Baku and Istanbul’s iconic Sultanahmet Mosque) were printed as a gesticulation of the good relationship between the two countries.
The Eurasian Economic Summits are annually organized with the active participation of national and international decision makers and experts in the fields of economy, politics, energy, sociology and security. The purpose of these summits is to bring the countries’ businessmen, politicians and academics together, to help them to cooperate in the fields of economy, democracy and security.
Statesmen from 40 different countries are attending the year’s summit. Dr. Akkan Suver, the president of the Marmara Group Foundation, said the event has turned into a prestigious symbol of unity as it was accepted in the Balkans, Caucasus, Europe and the Far East.
Azerbaijan and Turkey are important allies in the Eurasian region, which act as a bridge to combine Europe and Asia, specifically in regards to energy supply and transportation fields. Currently, a trans-Eurasian highway of information project is being implemented.
Commenting on the summit’s role in enhancing the relationship between Turkey and Azerbaijan, Vice President of Azerbaijan Prof. Dr. Ali Hasanov said it played a significant role in bringing together not only the two countries but also regional actors.
“This summit is an important factor that builds upon the ‘one nation, two states’ philosophy between the Turkish and Azeri nations. As a formation that brings together more than 30 countries, the Eurasian Economic Summit is important not only in bringing Turkey and Azerbaijan together but also in increasing the relations between countries in the region,” Hasanov told the Hürriyet Daily News.
The summit’s organizer, the Marmara Group Foundation, will be celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. The foundation was founded in 1985 to promote Turkey’s economic and democratic development toward global contemporary values and analyze the effects of transformations and developments in the areas of science, technology, economy, and democracy, along with their reflections on Turkey’s social and political life. As an independent NGO, the foundation prepares reports and analysis about solutions to Turkey’s various problems.
President of Montenegro Filip Vujanovic, President of Macedonia Prof. Dr. Gjorge Ivanov, Vice President of Azerbaijan Prof. Dr. Ali Hasanov, Prime Minister of Bosnia Herzegovina Vjekoslav Bevanda, together with the President of the Federation Marinko Cavara are attending the summit.
Turkish Parliamentary Speaker Cemil Çiçek and Health Minister Mehmet Müezzinoğlu will also attend the summit.
