The exhibition of the 30th Aydın Doğan International Cartoon Competition, organized by the Aydın Doğan Foundation, has opened at Istanbul’s Çemberlitaş Press Museum.

“The exhibition traditionally opens in the museum,” said Press Museum director Saadet Altay.

This year, 842 cartoonists from 77 countries took part in the contest with a total of 2,544 cartoons. The international committee, which gathered in Bodrum, also evaluated 234 cartoons by 199 artists from 43 countries that had already been chosen for consideration by the pre-selection committee.

Polish cartoonist Krzysztof Grzondziel’s work, which focuses on the damage caused by wars, won first prize in this year’s contest. The second prize in the contest went to Turkish artist Asuman Küçükkantarcılar, while third place went to Luxembourg’s Pol Leurs.
