Paul Auster thanked main opposition leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu for supporting him in the public eye in a letter sent by the author to Kılıçdaroğlu."I thank you for your kind invitation," Auster wrote. "I have been refusing to come until now to vioce my concerns with the treatment of writers in your country. But your letter made me reconsider the subject."
Auster further said he will consider the invitation despite his busy schedule.
Prime Minister Erdoğan had rekindled the debate with U.S. author Paul Auster earlier today, saying the writer should get together with main opposition leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu for a picnic "overlooking Gaza."
"If he [Auster] does come to Turkey, they [Auster and Kılıçdaroğlu] should go to Israel together afterwards. Otherwise that visit will be incomplete. They should have a picnic on a hill overlooking Gaza. They should repeat that there are no jailed journalists in Israel,” Erdoğan said.
