Turkish Culture and Tourism Ministry has appointed State Theater artist Fadik Sevin Atasoy as its Los Angeles Cultural Attaché for six months.“This is very good for the development of Turkish cinema. This is the first application and I think that it will continue. Atasoy is from this sector and knows its problems and situation very well,” Culture and Tourism Ministry Cinema General Director Cem Erkul said, adding that Atasoy would present Turkey’s qualities to Hollywood.
The ministry aims to promote Turkish cinema in the United States, bring Hollywood producers to Turkey and represent the country effectively in film festivals through the attaché program.
Erkul said they wanted Turkey to become more active in the heart of the cinema world, Hollywood and added that Atasoy would be able to provide information on Turkey’s conditions and work to bring together Turkish and foreign producers together.
Erkul said Atasoy’s appointment was a very important development. “In this way, there will be an official state contact rather than volunteers. A bridge will be established to promote Turkish films. This is the beginning point. I hope that we will create a better mechanism.”
