At least 10 people have been killed and 11 injured in a collision involving multiple vehicles on a Central Anatolian highway on the morning of April 9, near the city of Konya.The accident took place after a truck passed onto the opposite lane before crashing with a bus and another van. Other cars were also involved in the accident. Witnesses claimed that the truck driver had fallen asleep at his steering wheel.
Those injured in the accident were transferred to hospitals in Konya. Two people remain in serious condition.
The accident is the third this year on Central Anatolian highways to cause a huge number of fatalities. Two deadly accidents in late January due to ice had already drawn attention to the dangerous conditions of the highways in Turkey’s interior regions.
