“Salvador Dali and [Pablo] Picasso were close friends of Güler. For example, Picasso did not pose for anyone but Güler,” Ayaz said. “I wish [Picasso] had a chance to be here and that we could talk with him.”
During the exhibition, education programs for children between the ages 7 and 14 will also be organized.
Sabancı said the Mardin City Museum had been visited by 200,000 people since its opening and had made the city a significant center for culture. “We are proud of hosting Güler in this museum; this reflects the cultural bent of Mardin. We hope that the works of the artist will inspire young people.”
The exhibition, curated by photography historian Engin Özendeş, will display 114 works by Güler and will remain for one year at the museum’s Dilek Sabancı Art Gallery.
