Anti-terror fight should not be carried out with other terror groups: Erdoğan

The fight against the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) “should not be carried out using other terrorist groups,” Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said on May 10, criticizing the recent U.S. decision to directly arm the Syrian Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG).

Erdoğan also said he was hoping that the decision would be revised during his upcoming visit to Washington, where he will have his first meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump.

“I want to believe that Turkey's allies will side with us, not with terrorist organizations,” he added.

Erdoğan said he would convey his concerns during his visit to Washington, scheduled to take place on May 16 and 17.
